When you visit a Walmart store, your amazed at the parking lot, it’s huge. As you walk in, you’re probably amazed, as I am, at the breadth and diversity of offerings, in one location. From pharmacy, to fruit, to food to big screen TV’s. That’s only part of the picture. Walmart is also a big friend of small businesses, especially online with Walmart Marketplace.

Visit Walmart.com and you’ll see what I guess is hundreds of thousands, if not millions of items for sale.

Many of those items are increasingly sold by smaller companies, through the Walmart Marketplace program.

While many suppliers sell directly through Walmart.com, Walmart partners, who sell through the Walmart Marketplace control their own inventory, pricing, fulfillment and customer service.

Announced this week, Walmart Marketplace now has a direct integration with Shopify, which will make it easier for even more partners to sell their goods through Walmart.com

Jeff Clementz, Vice President, Walmart Marketplace, released a statement, “We’re excited to be able offer customers an expanded assortment while also giving small businesses access to the surging traffic on Walmart.com. Shopify powers a dynamic portfolio of third-party sellers who are interested in growing their business through new, trusted channels. This integration will allow approved Shopify sellers to seamlessly list their items on Walmart.com, which gives Walmart customers access to a broader assortment.

I’m always excited at the array of opportunities for small companies, in particular those in partnership with larger brands, like Walmart.
