Coachella 2018: Marriott’s W Hotels Brand Creates Experience for SPG and Marriott Rewards Members

The first weekend of Coachella 2018 brought a flurry of brand marketing activations to the Palm Springs area. Many of these pop-ups took place at nearby estates and hotels, but one activation inside the music festival attracted a lot of buzz: The W Village experience in the Safari Camp Grounds at Coachella. At this brand activation, The W (a global Marriott brand) created a one-of-a-kind experience for their SPG and Marriott Rewards members.

The W Village experience was the perfect way to show Coachella attendees that doing festivals “the W way” is the way to go. Marriott created four gorgeous yurts, made to resemble W Hotel properties in BaliHollywoodBarcelona, and Dubai, The Palm (set to be the first W Escape in the Middle East). Marriott Rewards and SPG offered members were able to bid their points for the chance to stay in one of these four beautiful yurts.

The W is a brand that has always been dedicated to music, and Marriott did Coachella “the W way” by providing a more exclusive, upgraded experience for the music lovers in attendance. Each yurt features Sound Suites, which include private music studios and writers rooms for artists to utilize the space as needed. All Coachella attendees, whether or not they were a Marriott Rewards or SPG member, were also invited to the “Loyalty Lounge”, located in the general admission area, where they could relax and recharge.

The yurts provided a spacious, luxurious getaway for Coachella attendees. Each Yurt featured a king size bed and sitting area that encompasses the look and feel of a room at a W hotel. Guests were also offered an array of W Hotel standard amenities and festival indulgences, including a refrigerator personally stocked with their favorite snacks and beverages, maid turndown service, personal concierge, private bathroom and shower for each Yurt, access to the Safari Lounge, and shuttles to take guests to and from Coachella.
